Diskominfomas Questions Balaikota Channel Permit

There is a different spectacle on Firstmedia cable TV in these last few days with the presence of ‘Balaikota Channel’. The program shows the activities of Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama.

We will meet with Firstmedia next week to question this matter, because it is related to permit and copy right

Head of Jakarta Communications, Informatics, and Public Relations Department, Eko Hariadi, said that his party has known about the ‘Balaikota Channel’ program aired on Firstmedia. According to him, Firstmedia did not hold any coordination with his department before airing the program.

“As far as I know, the program has been aired in this last four days, I don’t know if it already aired before that. We will meet with Firstmedia next week to question this matter, because it is related to permit and copy right ,” stated Hariadi at City Hall, Thursday (5/22).

Meanwhile, Head Jakarta Communications, Informatics, and Public Relations Department Mass Media Section, Aan Nurjanah, admitted shocked when she found out about ‘Balaikota Channel’ program. In fact, Basuki was also shocked.

“We don’t know why it (‘Balaikota Channel’ program) exists.  Mr. Vice Governor was very shocked when he knew about that channel,” she uttered.

Aired in channel number 20, the ‘Balaikota Channel’ shows videos of Jokowi-Basuki’s activities, especially videos of Basuki leading meetings. Those videos are actually have been uploaded to Jakarta Provincial Government’s official account on Youtube. The program also features ‘Jaya Raya’ logo and ‘courtesy of YouTube’ writing.
